Within hours of its release, the single, an expanded remix of Birthday Cake, has been in so much demand that the link was temporarily unavailable due to the high traffic it attracted.

"It's a download OVERLOAD!!!!" tweeted Rihanna, who celebrates her 24th birthday today. "Working on more links for u guys, so errbody could have some #CAKE."

For those already protesting the collaboration, Rihanna recently tweeted a message possibly explaining the move.

"They can say whatever, Ima do whatever... No pain is forever <-----YUP! YOU KNOW THIS," the singer wrote.
