Jay-Z chronicles his meteoric rise to cultural icon status in his new commercial for Rocawear -- the first television commercial in his clothing brand's history.
"Wherever you grew up, it's your root, right?," he says in the dramatic voiceover. "But I'm a kid from Marcy Projects from Brooklyn. ... My goal was to have one gold album and that was it, then it was I want to show that an artist can ascend to the executive ranks."
Jay-Z Raps About His 'Greatest Creation'
And clearly, he has. His latest achievement? The Barclays Arena will be home to the Brooklyn-bound Nets, of which Jay-Z is a partial owner. He'll kick off the opening of Barclays Arena with a string of highly anticipated sold-out concerts starting in late September.
But of course, he's not done yet.
"I don't know if you're ever done," he says. "It's almost like climbing a mountain. You see another mountain and then you go to the next one, and the next one."
Well given the fact that his beloved Blue Ivy is barely two months old, he's still got a long way to go!
