Indian School Gets Their 'Head Right'
By CHRIS FLECK
April 23, 2012
It was a Friday night, after everyone else at TheInsider.com had gone home when Local LA rock outfit, Indian School, came calling. Don't get me wrong, I love the playfully ironic living room set that we usually use, but for this performance, I decided to use our first floor office. Trust me when I say that the night janitor was none too pleased.
Indian School is a new band, but their roots stem back over a decade of world tours and critically acclaimed records. Built from the ashes of defunct punk band Audio Karate, the core members reformed, with a couple fresh faces and a new sound. Their debut EP, The Cruelest Kind, is a delicious blend of indie rock and punk rock sensibilities, with many comparing them to early The Strokes.
I chatted with them about the record, their past and their future. Stay tuned to the end of the video, where IS performs their ballad Head Right.
You can stream the full EP, The Cruelest Kind, for free on SoundCloud. For our LA based readers, Indian School will be playing a showcase on May 6th at the Viper Room.
