You know when you decide whether or not you are going to like someone based purely on the kind of neck chain they decide to wear? I totally did that with Ricky Reed (a.k.a. Wallpaper.). I heard his infectious hit F**CKING BEST SONG EVERRR and had decided that Wallpaper. and I would never be friends. There were many reasons.

First, Wallpaper. doesn't know how to spell ever.

Secondly, while looking at his video I realized that Ricky throws parties that people want to come to. (I don't.) He's popular. He wears weird hats and weird sunglasses and is totally obscure and totally relatable all at the same time.

Third, you have to have a pretty brave personality to put a cuss word right in the title of your song.

When I invited Wallpaper. to come talk music with me, I was nervous when he accepted. What would this cussing, misspelling, chain wearing fellow be like? I really didn't need to be nervous, since he turned out to be totally wonderful and charming! I loved how passionate Ricky was about his music and why he wanted to be an artist. I can see why his stock is totally blowing up, just coming off playing Coachella, SXSW and Carson Daly. He makes upbeat, summer jams that us normal folk can actually relate to. He doesn't sing about fancy cars and popping champagne; his tunes are more house party than white party.

Wallpaper. is definitely someone to watch this year, and if your summer playlist needs some new life, I strongly recommend that you pick up his #STUPiDFACEDD EP.

Maybe now, he will invite me to his next party.
