Ringo Tours With a Little Help from His Friends
June 18, 2012
Ringo Starr has launched his 13th All Starr Band tour, and we caught up with the former Beatle at the band's first gig in Niagara Falls to talk music and art. Watch the video…
In addition to touring and putting out a new album, Ringo 2012, the 71-year-old Ringo also has a flourishing electronic art collection, which evolved from doodles on his computer – and is now selling in galleries and as part of his tour. Sales benefit his charity, The Lotus Foundation, which funds, supports, participates in and promotes charitable projects aimed at advancing social welfare in diverse areas including substance abuse, cerebral palsy, brain tumors, cancer, battered women and their children, the homeless and animals in need.
Steve Lukather of Toto and Gregg Rolie of Santana and Journey join All Starr alumni Richard Page, Todd Rundgren, Mark Rivera and Gregg Bissonette for Ringo's summer tour, which winds through North America in such spots as Baltimore, Atlantic City, Salt Lake and Atlanta before ending July 21 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
