Colorado Fans Upset at Madonna's Gun Show
October 19, 2012
Madonna has been displaying fake guns throughout her current concert tour and continued this during a performance Thursday night in Colorado, where some fans were angered because it brought up feelings of the horrific mass theater shooting in that state that left 12 people dead.
The pop star kicked off her show, as in other performances, with a gun scene during her concert at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Local television KUSA-TV reported it received several phone calls on Friday from concertgoers saying they were offended at Madonna's use of guns and violence in her show in light of the killings during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises on July 20.
Before embarking on her 2012 World Tour, Madonna issued a statement explaining her use of violent imagery in her shows. "It's true there is a lot of violence in the beginning of the show and sometimes the use of fake guns -- but they are used as metaphors," she said. "I do not condone violence or the use of guns. Rather they are symbols of wanting to appear strong and wanting to find a way to stop feelings that I find hurtful or damaging."
