Although the Grammy awards ceremony is one of the biggest annual events in music, the nominations concert is increasingly approaching the status of the show itself. There will be revelations and music, and who better to preview it all than TheInsider.com's Keltie Colleen?
Instead of a mundane and to-the-point nominations announcement ceremony, the Grammys opted in 2007 to add flare to the ceremony by morphing it into a concert. Rapper and actor LL Cool co-hosted the inaugural event with Taylor Swift and will once again host with the Red musician tonight.
"She's still very much down-to-earth and I think that her doing this is proof of that," Cool J said of repeating their 2007 gig. "She could be out touring; she could be out doing something else, but she decided to come to Nashville and be a part of this Grammy nominations concert."
Although Swift has segued into a more pop tone in her latest album, the 22-year-old star began her music career with country music in Nashville after urging her family to move there when she was 14 so she could kick off her career.
Current country phenomenon Luke Bryan, also a Music City dweller, discussed his feelings on having the concert in Nashville for the first year as opposed to its usual location of Los Angeles, where the Grammys Awards will still be hosted in February.
"It's fun. Anytime...you can be at the house and run on in to downtown Nashville and get in 10 million and have fun performing, it's always exciting," the "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)" singer said. "We're really excited that the Grammys chose Nashville as their location for this, and we want to be a good host, so we're glad they're here."
