Mel Gibson pleaded no contest on Friday to misdemeanor battery regarding an incident with his ex, Oksana Grigorieva.

The actor was sentenced to 36 months of probation, a 52-week domestic violence course (which he started in January), 16 hours of community service with Mending Kids International, and a $400 domestic violence fine, among other lesser fines.

Mel received no jail time in the plea deal. According to reports, Mel pleaded no contest after being worried about putting his family through a public and lengthy court trial.
