Vogue’s 10th annual shape issue in April marks the first time Rihanna has donned the cover for its American counterpart. Inside, the pop star dishes on an array of topics including developing a love for her figure.

“I realized that I actually like my body, even if it’s not perfect according to the book,” she tells Vogue’s Jonathan Van Meter. “I just feel sexy. For the first time, I don’t want to get rid of the curves. I just want to tone it up. My body is comfortable, and it’s not unhealthy, so I’m going to rock with it.”

Along with her newfound love for her shape, Rihanna opens up on what this issue means for women.

“For a woman to accept her body the way it is, is almost impossible,” she clarifies during her photo shoot with famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. “I think that it’s really important that Vogue decided to team up with me and Annie on an issue like this that promotes loving your body the way it is, all different shapes, sizes, curves.”

The “S&M” singer also reveals how she prefers her fashion style to harmonize with her body.

“When it comes to my body, I’m very, very big on dressing according to my body type. I like things that accentuate the waist and make it little.”
