Less than a week after he plead no contest to misdemeanor battery, Mel Gibson has turned himself in.

Gibson, 55, turned himself in around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night at the El Segundo police department in Southern California and posted a $20,000 bail. He was released around 10 p.m.

Last Friday the actor was sentenced to 36 months of probation, a 52-week domestic violence course (which he started in January), 16 hours of community service with Mending Kids International, and a $400 domestic violence fine, among other lesser fines.
