Hollywood's Newest 'It Girl': Elizabeth Olsen
October 13, 2011
Last night at the New York Film Festival, Elizabeth Olsen, Hollywood's new "It Girl" took to the red carpet for the premiere of her eagerly anticipated thriller, Marthy Marcy May Marlene. This rising starlet is no country bumpkin, nor did she just fall off the turnip truck. Her face probably looks familiar and so does her last name, as Elizabeth is the younger sister to twin superstars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The Insider has the exclusive interview with the breakout star, whose name is on the tip of everyone's tongues.
Virtually unknown before being cast (other than for her relation to her famous sisters), Elizabeth says of her experience, "It actually was just an amazing opportunity as unknown actress to be able to work on a role that challenges you."
In Martha Marcy May Marlene, Elizabeth plays a damaged woman who is haunted by troublesome memories from her past. The film focuses on Martha (Olsen) as she tries to re-assimilate with her family after feeling an abusive cult, but becomes increasingly paranoid and delusional.
Martha Marcy May Marlene is set to open in limited release on Oct. 21, 2011.
