With flowing platinum blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, Victoria Redstall is hardly who comes to mind when one thinks of the gruesome world of serial killers, but this part-time model/actress isn't afraid to go eye to eye with the most infamous of criminals.
Redstall made headlines in 2006 after gaining unprecedented access to serial killer Wayne Adam Ford, and has since has made a name for herself by interviewing a bevy of notorious murderers.
So what's her strategy to getting a subject talking? She says it's a combination of getting them on a "personal level" and, admittedly, utilizing her "non-threatening" appearance to great advantage.
"I find a common ground, whether it be cooking or karaoke or whatever, there's banter back and forth. I could talk about the weather, I could talk about what I did yesterday, and I open up myself to the extent I am prepared to. Therefore, they're more comfortable to open up to me…They see me as non-threatening, and a couple of them say they see me as naive."
Although Redstall acknowledges her pleasing appearance is a factor in scoring a prime interview, she is quick to add that "none of these serial killers have made any sexual innuendos to [her], none have disrespected [her], none have ever done anything."
Which begs the question, why wouldn't these serial killers set their sights on Victoria? She says the key to avoiding what could become a dangerous situation is to very simply, respect yourself. "When someone has respect for themselves or clearly obvious self worth, they have respect for you automatically, and it's on their subconscious."

Victoria has recently compiled the best of her interviews over the years in her new book, Serial Killers: Up Close and Very Personal, on shelves this November.
