Trash Talk: Adam Levine Says F*ck You to VMAs

The oh-so-cocky Adam Levine had some choice words for the Video Music Awards yesterday. In his tell-it-like-it-is fashion, the singer and Voice judge tweeted a verbal rampage against MTV’s popular awards show.
Adam wrote, "the VMA's. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. f*ck you VMA's. still waiting to have my ‘jerry macguire mission statement moment of deep regret...’ not happening. phew! i may be a pop singer. but every once in a while the angsty teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty. it's a reflex."
First off, I think someone is just bitter that his band of merry men wasn’t nominated this year and Maroon 5 hasn’t played the VMAs ever. Secondly, get off your high horse Adam! MTV made you and your band a star a decade ago, don’t forget that. If it wasn’t for MTV basically playing This Love on repeat for a year straight, your pretty face wouldn’t have been all over radio waves and TVs -- winning over the hearts of tween and teen girls everywhere. So remember that! As someone who knew Adam in high school when he was an "angsty teenager" -- seems to me like is just the same cocky dude I remember strutting his stuff through the ivy-covered halls of my high school.
The VMAs are a ridiculous awards show -- who doesn’t know that? Katy I-can’t-sing-live-to-save-my-as$ Perry beat out show-stealer Adele! Jersey Shore was all over the place! Lady Gaga dressed up like a dude and made everyone feel awkward! Britney Spears got the Video Vanguard Award. Hello!? That’s a LIFETIME achievement award -- and she is 29! Give me a break! The whole show is just a campy, over-the-top glitterfest -- and that’s what people love about it.
So thanks for speaking some real truths, Adam. I think we are all benefitting from your wise words. But fo reals, I couldn’t stand the I’m-so-brilliant-thing a decade ago and I can’t stand it now. How’s that for some raw honesty?
