In the studio with David Hodges
October 03, 2011
Behind every great popstar is an epic songwriter.
Sometimes they are the same person, but more likely, the songwriter behind that song you sing-a-long to every morning on the way to work
is David Hodges.
As former writer and keyboardist of the band Evanescence, he and his bandmates took home Best New Artist (as well as the Best Hard Rock Performance) Grammy Award for their 2004 hit Bring Me To Life. Evanescence’s debut album Fallen has sold over 15 million copies worldwide.
David went on to quickly became one of pop-rock's most popular songwriters. His endless list of credits includes Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion, Reba, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Big Time Rush, Daughtry, Javier Colon, Christina Perri, Matthew Morrison, Jason Mraz and Weezer -- to name a few!
I have to admit that I can now pick out a David Hodges song pretty easily. If it pulls at your heartstrings and melts your face simulatiously, it is most likely David. I am a huge fan.
I was recently lucky enough to get an exclusive tour of his studio -- where he allowed me to sing a few beautiful notes in the vocal booth.
Most importantly ... he let me touch his Grammy!
Rock N Roll,
