The stage is set for Sunday's Survivor Series to be one of the most memorable events in recent WWE history since The Rock is returning to the ring for a tagteam match with John Cena. The duo will take on The Miz and R-Truth in the pay-per-view event, live from New York City's Madison Square Garden.

I caught up with John as he prepared to team up with his one-time enemy and found out why he's especially excited about this Survivor Series, how his opponents will fare and what kinds of surprises lie in wait for fans!

Insider.com: Your fans couldn't be more excited for Sunday's event -- how do you feel?
John Cena: I'm especially excited for this Survivor Series. Having myself and The Rock in the same ring as partners really builds the anticipation for Wrestlemania -- and you can tell the fans are excited because MSG sold out in 90 minutes. The Rock lit TV on fire this week and I think everybody wants to see if he still has it. I mean, he's been on movie sets for a long time.

Insider: Is that why you picked him, to see if "he still has it?"
John: Everyone keeps asking me why I chose The Rock as my partner. Are there more polished and capable people on the roster right now? I think so. But I chose The Rock because I want fans to have the best Survivor Series they could have and I don't know how many times we’ll see Dwayne before Wrestlemania, so at least he'll have one match before that. I would hate for us to promise this epically remembered match and have him lean on an excuse like, I haven't been in the ring – that's why it wasn't all it could be. So this is for the fans. We have an agreement: This is a chance for him to get in the ring and iron out anything he may be struggling with. I'll play nice – but if he pushes my buttons, I'll get in his face.

Insider: You two will take on he Miz and R-Truth -- how do you think they'll fare?
John: Those are guys really that are going to have to pull off an upset. If The Rock and I can get along, I wouldn't bet one red cent on those two. I'm not going to say they're untalented, but we're two of the most prolific stars in The WWE. Upsets do happen but if we come in on the same page, I don't think there's a tag team, past or present, that could hold a candle to us.

Insider: There is a lot of history swirling around this event -- does that make a win even more important?
John: The Garden was home base for The WWWF. It holds special value to The WWE because that's where our roots are. I'm not only passionate about this company's future but also it's history. And every time I've seen Vince [McMahon] in the garden, he's beaming with pride and excitement. I love The Garden and any event we have there is special.

Insider: Fans have come to expect the unexpected with any major WWE event -- same true for Sunday's Survivor Series?
John: Absolutely. That's why people continually watch The WWE. It's a global phenomenon and the reason is because you truly never know what could happen. Especially on this one, that's why fans should watch – something big will happen.
