It started off shaky but once Maria Bello's detective drama found its footing (by episode 3), Prime Suspect routinely delivered some of the best acting and writing anywhere on any network. Sadly, by that time viewers had fled, leaving NBC with no choice but to cancel the series and leave Maria holding her scapegoat hat.
