For this pop culture rewind, we take you back to an interview with David Letterman in light of his 15th year as a late-night host.
This flashback happened 15 years ago on this day in 1997. So, where's all the publicity about his newest milestone of 30 years as late-night host, you may ask?
If you haven't heard about his latest milestone, you'll find out why there's no extravaganza for it when you hear Letterman's reaction to the milestone 15 years ago.
"To me 15 years is nothing," Letterman said with a pair of horn-rimmed glasses on. "The 15 years is just a little something to get some time on television…In the real world, who cares?"
"In show business, somebody changes nail polish [and] they have a party," Letterman joked.
There's no business quite like show business—is there, Mr. Letterman?
