She's baaaack! And by she, I mean Melissa. Oh, and Paige!
The girls are making plans to meet the guy who supposedly knows who A is and to pay him $2,000 for this information. Aria and Spencer take charge and Spencer uses her best line to date: "I'm the money." Aria's the familiar face and Spencer has the cash. Unwillingly, they hand over the money and receive only an address (where the texts were coming from) in return. The girls want to visit the location because it's not far away, but creeper Garrett is starting to follow them everywhere in his car so they postpone their plans.
Emily is completely heartbroken that Maya won't return her phone calls and she starts to lean on Paige for comfort. However, Emily, unfortunately, has no intentions to further a relationship with Paige. (I'm not exactly sure how to explain it, but I absolutely adore Lindsay Shaw, so I'm Team Paige.) Emily helps Paige find herself, and for that, I'm drawn to their friendship. Em repeatedly calls Maya throughout the episode and the last thing in the world she expects to happen, happens -- the cops show up at Emily's door and need to talk to her about Maya St. German. We see A shooting up a target at the close of the episode. Did A do something to Maya?
Aria fights back to defend her love for Ezra. Her parents don't understand their relationship and Aria believes they just don't care to try to understand. Ezra is considering the job in New Orleans and Aria is left heartbroken. She voices her opinion to Ella, and tells her mother that her dad got his wish, but now they're losing a daughter as well. Being the loving mother that she is, Ella shows up at Ezra's apartment to listen to what he and Aria have to say. We learn during this scene that tea kettles have impeccable timing when things get awkward.
Hanna learns that Mona is receiving texts from someone named A and at first, she hides the truth from her friend. Mona receives a picture text, threatening word texts and even notes on an apple from A! (Man, this crazy stalker is getting creative.) The worst message that Mona receives is a police report of Hanna and A demands that she turn it in to the Rosewood Observer, or she'll be outed as a shoplifter herself. It may have shocked some people (I wasn't surprised at all) that Mona didn't follow A's orders. Can Mona be the fifth Pretty Little Liar, please?
Well, Spencer's life is pure hell. The Hastings sisters plan to meet up and talk, but Melissa ditches Spencer. She claims that class ran late, but Spencer sees her getting into a car with Garrett. What?! Little does Melissa know that Spencer wants to talk to her about the video she is in that could possibly link her to Alison's murder. Spencer downs a few shots and bumps into Wren -- totally not a coincidence. Drunk Spencer makes an appearance and drowns her sorrows in alcohol and Wren's hot British lips. Spencer deserves to have a little fun with the way her life is going at the moment. (Also, I want to be best friends with Spencer Hastings. End of story.)
The biggest shocker of the night is that the address the girls visit is actually an old law office where Melissa once worked. I think Melissa just moved to the top of the A list!
Tune in next Monday to see if Spencer confronts Melissa and to see what exactly happened to Maya. The girls are finding more clues and getting so close to A. We are less than a month away from the big reveal!
