We've learned the inner-most thoughts and seen the inner-most demons come out of Brad, Jane, Penny, Alex, Dave and Max at some point over the last two seasons -- and tonight's episode is no exception.

A Happy Fan Favorite Returns!

While Brad, Jane, Alex and Dave are all caught up in a storyline revolving around the former fiancee's drunken hookup, Max and Penny find themselves locked in a competition with an annoyingly perfect couple. One that finally allows the show to embrace its Hughes-ian tendencies by revealing some more of Penny's dark past. 

Happy Endings airs Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
