'Idol' Watch: The Divine Nine
'Idol' Idols Evoke Excessive Emotion
American Idol put the power in their contestant's hands last night, giving them a broad theme from which they could choose their songs: Your Musical Idol.
This not only opened the door for the contestants to reaffirm what kind of musician they would like to be, but it also gave everyone carte blanche to cry. A lot. Tears were just as common as standing ovations last night -- two things I really feel like this show could use less of.
Another thing I would suggest the show do away with: their suddenly excessive prop budget! From dreamy doors to twisted trees, the stage was constantly cluttered last night with a lot more than the singer's talent. Which was distracting, dumb and in need of dispatching. But who will America do away with tonight? Let's break it down!
