Phillip performed about halfway through the two-hour show last night but his spirited Jonny Lang cover was the night's first truly astounding moment. It got my toes tapping, heart racing and head shaking. Which is, theoretically, what every single one of these performance should do since that's the effect a real musician has on you.

Sadly, the gap between those who are ready and those who need more work is becoming increasingly apparent as the week's wear on. And Phillip, he's ready to rock.
