The photo, posted by show creator and co-judge Simon Cowell, shows Spears and Lovato smiling alongside himself and L.A. Reid. The sitting judge posted the pic to his Twitter mere moments after confirming the worst kept secret in history at the FOX upfronts in New York City.

"Can't believe it's finally happened," he wrote with the accompanying photo. "Very exciting!"

Britney Spears could hardly contain her excitement about the new gig, telling those gathered at the NYC panel that the experience will "be so different from anything I've ever done… I'm so excited!"

Demi Lovato beams she's "excited to represent my generation," already showing off her competitive spirit for the program as she adds confidently, "I'm going to find the winner!"
