As previously reported, the upcoming fourth season will spend a lot of time delving into Neal's history. "I think he is searching for purpose and meaning in his life," Matt Bomer said during a recent set visit. "A big part of that was getting all these wrinkles in his past ironed out so he could put that aspect of things behind him. Just to have some sort of understanding and control over the cards he was dealt so he could move forward in a way that suits him the best."
