Jane Fonda's psychedelic, over-the-top Barbarella floats onto Blu-ray for the first time on July 3, and now the kitchy-sexy-sci-fi extravaganza will be coming to TV! So, which actress would make the ultimate space queen?

Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn will direct and executive-produce a series based on the graphic novel character brought to life in the 1968 Roger Vadim movie, reports Deadline, calling the curvy, uninhibited heroine "one of the ultimate counter-cultural characters."

A sort of sexualized Alice in Wonderland, Barbarella is set in the year 40,000 and finds the titular character battling robots, deadly dolls, monsters and an evil weapons inventor all the while slipping in and out and in and out of her provocative clothes. Among many dubious distinctions, the popular film's villain was the inspiration for giving the band Duran Duran their name.

No casting announcements have been made as to who will portray the Queen of the Galaxy, but my own personal prerequisites must include curves: Christina Hendricks (who may have the edge, having starred in Refn's Drive) or Scarlett Johansson, perhaps?
