'Glee'view - The End of 'Klaine?'
Ryan Murphy has been on Twitter for less than one day and he's already whipped Glee fans into a frenzy!
During a fan-driven Q&A session this afternoon, Ryan was asked," Is there one episode that you're looking forward to the most?" He replied, "The writers are working on an episode called The Break-Up that I'm really excited about."
And that's when the internet broke.
Klaine (Kurt and Blaine), Wemma (Will & Emma) and Brittana (Brittany & Santana) fans came out in equal, yet innumerable, droves to demand that their chosen couple not be the ones torn apart in the fourth season.
To get to the bottom of this, one must try to crawl inside Ryan's brain (a scary prospect) and figure out which one of these splits would excite him most from a storytelling point of view. Wemma is more interesting together than apart, so I think they're safe. Ditto for Brittana since their union is so central to who they have become as characters. This leaves us with Klaine.
Not only is it clear just how much Ryan adores Blaine/Darren Criss, but I'm sure the idea of seeing the character date around excites him. To that point, Darren has said, "I think we all want to see [Kurt and Blaine] together as long as possible but it's good to have things shake up a little bit. For everybody, the new format of the show is going to shake a lot of cool stuff up and it can only be a good thing."
Additionally, sources tell me that early on in the fourth season, Kurt does in fact move to New York City, and reunites with Rachel Berry. Could Klaine survive long distance? Should Klaine survive long distance? We'll have to wait and see when Glee season four premieres this September!
And lest you think the title isn't indicative of the episode's content, take a look at how literal Glee titles have been in the past:
The Power of Madonna
Blame It on the Alcohol
I Kissed A Girl
The Spanish Teacher
UPDATE! After news of a Klaine deleted scene hit the internet in 2011, Ryan Murphy has continuously promised to release it online -- and today he did! So bask in the beauty of this tender moment from Extraordinary Merry Christmas.
