Simon Slams 'The Voice' After Timeslot Shift
From day one, The Voice has taken subtle, and not-so-subtle, jabs at Simon Cowell's work, with the NBC mentors stressing that their show is about "pure talent" and reminding audiences they're not there to be mean. The Voice even cast Frenchie Davis, a powerful singer wrongly (IMHO) disqualified from American Idol, in their first season.

But now that they're finally going head-to-head with one of Simon's shows for the first time, as The Voice and The X Factor kick off new seasons on September 10 and September 12, respectively, the gloves are coming off!
It was revealed yesterday that The Voice would be adding a third episode for premiere week, which would run in direct timeslot conflict with the September 12 premiere of Fox's The X Factor. And Simon isn't taking the challenge lying down!

"These guys have really got it in for us," he said. "It's nothing short of dirty tricks. The reason they've done this is they don't want people to see X Factor because they've heard how good the series is. They don't want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don't want their audience to see Demi Lovato."

And Simon thinks Britney will take the news hardest of all. "She's going to be devastated because she's put her heart and soul into this. Britney's not going to appreciate the fact that Christina -- who has been a bit of a rival -- isn't allowing Britney to have a night of her own."

According to Simon, Fox and NBC came to a "gentleman's agreement" that The Voice would run Mondays and Tuesdays while The X Factor would run Wednesdays and Thursdays so fans could watch both. But this last minute change reeks of poor sportsmanship to Simon. I can't bear it that the network is playing political games and playing with the audience."

The Voice airs September 10, 11 AND 12 on NBC, while The X Factor debuts September 12 and 13 on Fox.
