The X Factor is launching its second season with some major changes that include two new judges, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears, sitting at the judging table. With the premiere less than a day away, judge L.A. Reid revealed to The Insider's Brooke Anderson what the two new judges are like on the show.

"Honestly, Demi and Britney are much tougher than Simon and I because they're brutally honest, very straightforward, will cut you to shreds, and then all these people come out and pander to them because they do their songs, so [the contestants] make it even tougher on themselves, and that's just asking for it," Reid said.

While Lovato and Spears have yet to be seen in action for a full episode, the two have both demonstrated behavior in promos similar to Reid's description, and Lovato has been seen snapping at the forthright Simon Cowell.

"We have a lot of fun together," Lovato said of her banter with Cowell. "We secretly like each other...It's way, way down in a little, little piece of my heart...We have fun bantering back and forth and picking on each other. I give it back to him because, quite frankly, he deserves it."

Although she may not always have the most amicable relationship with Cowell, she revealed that she is getting along very well with fellow new judge Britney Spears, to whom she referred as a childhood idol.

"I still have to pinch myself because it's so amazing getting to even sit next to her [now] when I was going to her concerts as young as six [years old]," she said. "I'm very, very excited to be working with her and even just having an excuse to sit next to her."

While the show has already revealed its new judging lineup, it has yet to announce who will fill former host Steve Jones' job. Lovato and Reid didn't shed any light on who the host may be, and weren't able to confirm rumors of Justin Bieber coming on to the show as a mentor.
