The Insider was with Glee's newest star Jacob Artist (who plays Jake, Puckerman's younger half-brother), as he rode to Fox's Eco Casino party last night in Los Angeles, where he gave us a surprising taste of his smooth vocals!

Jacob reveals he sang The Fray's Never Say Never at his Glee audition and will be singing it again for his first episode, before giving us a tiny snippet of the song.

Amazingly, Jacob, an accomplished dancer who got accepted to Julliard his senior year of high school but turned it down to come to L.A., shared that he had never sang before landing the breakout role.

"I was kind of always just humming to myself, I never performed ever, for anybody, not even my parents, so the fact that I'm on a show now where obviously singing is such a huge aspect is pretty crazy," he smiles. "[I'm] definitely the real-life Finn," he jokes.

As to whether or not Jake is similar to Puck, even though the two don't know each other, Jacob gives a definite yes.

"I think you can definitely tell that Jake is a Puckerman in the sense that there's an attitude that he kind of has," he explains. "But I think it definitely differs where Jake kind of ... it comes from he's a little bit of a lone wolf, he's kind of an outcast. He's new to the school -- he doesn't really have his place in the social class where Puck kind of did as the jock."
