September 11, 2012
Matthew Perry's new comedy Go On got a huge boost last month when it's pilot episode aired during NBC's Olympics coverage and the show pulled in more than 16 million viewers. The Insider's Brooke Anderson spoke to Matthew about the show's early success and got a behind-the-scenes look at an episode that shows off his hockey skills.
When asked about taking to the ice in the upcoming episode, Matthew explains that he grew up in Canada, where pretty much "everyone has to play hockey." He also talks about working out on the ice with former NHL hockey star Jeremy Roenick, who appears in the show.
Speaking about the show-- in which he plays a cocky sportscaster who loses his wife in a car accident and starts attending mandatory group therapy sessions -- Matthew said he's lucky to be working with a talented cast that also happens to be hilarious. "It's a comedy that deals with some pretty serious issues, so (creator Scott Silveri) wanted to surround it with funny people."
Watch the video for more behind-the-scenes footage and to hear Matthew's co-star John Cho reveal what lured him to join the former Friends star on Go On, which premieres a new episode tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC.
