After coming within spitting distance of the Mirrorball Trophy during his first go-around on Dancing with the Stars, actor Gilles Marini is fixated on winning the trophy on the show's All-Star season not just for himself and dancing partner Peta Murgatroyd but his family as well.

"I need to win," Marini said plainly. "I need to win because I don't want to have the look of my daughter for the rest of my life [conveying], 'How dare you [not] get me that beautiful, precious stone trophy in my bedroom?'...I'd be killed."

Marini first appeared on Dancing's eighth season in 2009 with dancing partner Cheryl Burke. After becoming a fan-favorite, he finished in second place by a smidgen to Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson. Although he learned plenty about dancing from his first Dancing stint, he revealed that it hasn't been easy to pick back up after a few years.

"It's a process," the former Brothers & Sisters actor said of getting back in the swing of things. "Sometimes I [think] I got it, and if I looked at myself in the mirror while doing it, I just don't. If I fix something, something else needs to be fixed. It's kind of a never-ending type of thing."

Although he's had some trouble getting back into dancing shape, Marini revealed that he is very content with his new partner, Peta, who is allowing him much more freedom to express his opinions and incorporate his own moves into their routines.

"This time over, I'm very included in what's going to be next," he said. "She really puts me in...charge. [She asks me], 'What do you think of that?' and [I think], 'Am I allowed to talk? This is cool!' So, I'm also afraid when I say something 'cause then if it doesn't work, it's my fault now."

While the French native may have more say in this season's dances, he proposed that his partner, who was wearing a provocative dress when they first met, be the one attracting all the votes.

"I'll only have to twirl her the entire time," Marini said. "I can just make her do...a split and people will go ape...I'm going to have all the men out there watch 'Dancing with the Stars' this season because of this lady. She does things that you can't even in your wildest imagination do."

Watch Marini's return to the dance floor on Dancing with the Stars beginning September 24 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
