As Whitney Houston's family prepares for the debut of a new reality show,  the pop superstar's sister-in-law Pat is opening up about Whitney's daughter Bobbi Kristina -- whom she admits is drinking alcohol against the family's wishes and has pushed to get engaged to her boyfriend Nick Gordon.

"We don't approve of the drinking," said Pat, who was Whitney's longtime manager and serves as president of the Grammy winning star's estate. "That's not something that we initiated, that was something that was initiated years ago," she added.

"That's her reality, but we have to figure out how to deal with it" Pat told The Insider about Bobbi Kristina's alcohol use that is documented on the Houstons' reality show The Houstons: On Our Own. She reveals that her niece's alcohol use is currently "a concern, but not a huge problem."

When asked to clarify the current relationship of Bobbi Kristina to boyfriend Nick Gordon -- her "adopted" brother who she announced during a clip of the show she got engaged to -- Pat would only say that Bobbi Kristina "thought" she was engaged. "I thought it was just too soon, she's still a young, young girl -- she's 19 -- she's not a woman," said Pat, who also confirmed the ring Bobbi Kristina chose was one that belonged to her mother.
