One of President Barack Obama's most tireless supporters on the campaign trail was CSI: NY star Hill Harper -- a friend and former college roommate of the president -- who granted The Insider his first interview since Obama's re-election.

While Harper, 46, said that Obama had understandably not had time to speak with him since election night on Tuesday, he couldn't be more proud of the president's win. "The turnout was high and I'm just so proud of everybody who voted, because that's what makes America great," he said. "And I'm so proud of the re-election efforts and we got the right man for the job."

Harper -- who serves on the president's special cancer panel and himself is a survivor of thyroid cancer -- said he's looking forward to attending the inauguration ceremony this January and is optimistic about Obama's leadership during his next term. "It takes eight years for a president to create a legacy, and I think he has the opportunity to make that come though."

Watch the video to also hear Harper's personal observations about how Obama is a good husband to Michelle and father to his daughters Sasha and Malia.
