"I'm really excited to continue building off of Vincent's origins because that's the past ten, fifteen years of his life before he became the beast," Jay said. "Where are all those people from his life? How is he keeping away from family members, ex-lovers, or fiancees, maybe? All of that stuff starts to be revealed. And as Catherine and Vincent's relationship heats up, those characters may just come up to pose a threat. His past may catch up with him."

In the December 6 episode, titled Trapped, JT suspects that Catherine is the trigger of Vincent's blackouts, so JT injects Vincent with endorphins and sedatives that force him into a fugue state in an attempt to disprove the theory. Through that, the audience is treated to flashbacks of Vincent's time in Afghanistan when he received his first super soldier shot, and remembers who injected him with the DNA altering substance.
