I'm not one to gloat or say such things as "I told you so," but I must take this moment to run a victory lap. I had many of naysayers, but in the end, my non-scientific way of collecting data (i.e. my gut instinct) predicted a Cassadee Pope win weeks ago! I mean, I respect Terry McDermott and Nicholas David as much as the next person, but this show was Cassadee's to win. Here were my favorite performances from the finale week:

The Voice Cast, Hallelujah
In wake of the devastating massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, the entire Voice cast (Christina Milian and Carson Daly included) sang a moving tribute. Standing behind a row of candles, each cast member held a placard with the name and age of each victim. It was emotional, haunting and beautiful.

Cassadee Pope, Cry
Ending the live performance show, Cassadee tackled a Faith Hill classic. I have to admit, the first half of the song was feeble and weak. However, she gained her footing during the second half holding this "cryyyyyy" note that gave me the goosies. Anyone who doubted she was winning the show at that point was just a good old fashioned hater.

The Voice Coaches, Good Riddance (The Time of Your Life)
This being Cee Lo and Christina's last season as part of the Fantastic Foursome on The Voice, the coaches sang Green Day's classic (that's been played and overplayed in every graduation across America.). Sure, Christina let out a little annoying laugh at the end of each chorus and yeah, she shot Adam a go-to-hell look after he forgot to sing one of his parts but it all culminated in me realizing what made these coaches so entertaining: Christina-isms. Whether it was her catty, caustic remarks to Cassadee or her bob wig adorned with shiny top hats, Christina will be missed. Something tells me that Shakira (Christina's replacement) just won't pack the same punch.

Nicholas David and Cee Lo Green, Play That Funky Music
There was a bad ass horn section, go-go dancers that gyrated in circles surrounded by streamers, it was politically correct to refer to Nicholas as a "white boy" and Cee Lo wore a zebra print short suit that reminded me of the The Lion King. What more could I ask for? Sheer perfection.

Nicholas David, Amanda Brown, Trevin Hunte and Dez Duron, The End of the Road
First of all, I haven't heard this song since 1997 so it was a pleasant surprise after such a long hiatus. What I learned from this performance: Nicholas can sound like Barry White, Dez still has throngs of girls that are willing to sire his children and Trevin or Amanda could've easily won The Voice. They're both just so ridiculously good.

Avril Lavigne and Cassadee Pope, I'm With You
This is my fave Avril song of all time (Complicated comes next) and it was fitting that Cassadee perform this with her idol. They looked great, sounded awesome (in some places, Casadee sounded better than Avril) and then Carson ruined it by saying something really lame. Something along the lines of, "Thanks Avril for being here, I know it meant a lot to Cassadee." But his delivery was so blah and uninspired. Hey Carson, stop reading the prompter and emote, for a change. Maybe he should take a season off with Cee Lo and Christina. Obviously, the thrill is gone.

My Last Blog
It has been my immense pleasure summing up the incredible goodness of this season. Thank you for reading every week and having the balls to disagree with me on Twitter. I'll be releasing my project in the spring of 2013 and I couldn't thank you enough for your support. As always, you can find me at @JSquidward. Now, tweet me and pat me on the back for calling the win for Cassadee awhile ago. Go ahead, admit I was right and you were wrong. I'm waiting...
